How it works
Passive vent filters work by using cartridges full of high performance activated carbon to absorb and oxidise sewer gases. Low back pressure in the units encourages air flow. Passive vent filters can be used to treat H₂S, as well as dimethyl sulphide, mercaptans and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
Benefits to clients
OdourPro's passive vent filters are specially designed to require very little maintenance, with no moving parts. They are robust, securely assembled and appropriate for harsh environments.
With easy installation and a high odour removal rate of 99.5%, passive vent filters offer a low cost, long-term odour management intervention. Replaceable cartridges make equipment upkeep a breeze.

Functional description
Ground mounted passive vent filters are odour control units made up of a base, cartridge and lid, specifically created for wastewater applications where odour production is a concern. As the odorous air from the sewage moves through the activated carbon bed, an absorption process takes place.
Compounds attach to the pores of the carbon, which has been chemically treated to react with odorous gases. The treated air is then safe to be let out into the surrounding environment.
Construction
OdourPro's passive vent filters are made to be UV corrosion resistant with the use of PVC as the default choice of material. You may also choose to upgrade to High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE). The lid of the unit is gasket sealed, attached to the vessel base and bolted securely.
Absorptive media
We specially developed the blend of activated carbon inside our vent filters for its effectiveness in removing H₂S gases, mercaptans and other volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Our custom carbon blend consists of Acticarb EA 1000 granular vapour activated carbon and Acticarb EA 1000K pelletised impregnated activated carbon.
We can also create custom mixtures for your system to get the odour treatment results you need. By chemically treating the activated carbon, a second filtration step is added to ensure an even higher processing success rate.
Optional accessories
Accessories for the vent filter range include indicators that show real-time measurement of carbon absorbers and filter saturation, a vent stack mount with inlet and outlet adaptor flange kit and an extraction fan. Custom combinations of activated carbon media are also available for specific gas treatment requirements.
OdourPro's maintenance and monitoring services allow for easy management of wastewater networks while our telemetry option can log vital measurements to ensure your system is operating at best capacity.
Compliance with legislation
Our products aid operators to meet odour emission legislation requirements for a quick acting yet long-term odour reduction strategy.
