OdourPro Biotrickling Filter Systems – FiltaBTF™
Biotrickling filter systems that reduce odours from H₂S emissions by up to 95%
OdourPro's biotrickling filter systems use an inorganic media bed, nutrient dosing and irrigation to biologically treat toxic gases to protect site workers, reduce odour complaints and conform to environmental regulations.
FiltaBTF™ biotrickling filter systems are advantageous for sites where higher concentrations of toxic gases must be treated and where there are space restrictions.
As well as selling and installing biotrickling filter systems, OdourPro's team of experts provide consulting, maintenance and monitoring to make sure your system is operating as it should.

How it works
Similar in function to biofilters, OdourPro's FiltaBTF™ systems humidify toxic gases before passing them through an inorganic, irrigated media bed that is nutrient-rich, to provide optimal conditions for microorganism activity. The gases are then oxidised and flow out of a vent to the atmosphere.
Benefits to clients
OdourPro biotrickling filter systems remove 95% of odours and VOCs, treating toxic gases so that they are safe for the environment, site workers and nearby residents. They are particularly useful due to their elevated microbiological activity, which means they require less time for gas treatment.
OdourPro's biotrickling filter systems can be designed to suit height or surface area restrictions at a site, and are useful for higher concentrations of toxic gas due to their greater efficiency.
- Customised Systems
The FiltaBTF™ system functions by directing air through a filter bed of inorganic media with the use of a blower or extraction fan. An irrigation system hydrates the media and adds nutrients that facilitate the growth of microorganisms to metabolise the odorous gases. If available, treated effluent can be used for hydration rather than potable water.
The main units of biotrickling filter systems are made from P300 High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) and are UV and corrosion resistant with a long expected product lifespan in any climatic conditions. Joint construction is via butt and extrusion welding with Standard DVS plastic joining technical codes strictly followed.
PVC pal rings or open cell foam blocks make up the filter bed media, which are designed to have a large surface area for greater biological adsorption and minimal back pressure.
Irrigation regulates the moisture levels in the filter bed to facilitate optimal conditions for microorganism growth and activity. An inspection hatch allows access to the irrigation system.
Upgrades to the standard biotrickling filtration systems include a PLC, standby fan, stainless steel fans, operational sensors, an access platform, and an activated carbon polishing unit. OdourPro also offers ongoing maintenance and monitoring services, including telemetry systems that can log fan operation and air flow, the inflow and outflow of H₂S gases as well as water flow.
Our biotrickling filter systems come in standard "plug and play" sizing, or can be custom built for specific requirements.
OdourPro's FiltaBTF™ systems help operators to comply with the Environmental Operations Act 1997 (POEO Act). According to the Clean Air Society of Australia and New Zealand, “Odours constitute the largest area of air quality related complaints for all Australian and New Zealand regulatory authorities.”
OdourPro is Australia's leading odour management specialist with the expertise to reduce odours at your site by up to 95%.
Our biotrickling filtration systems come in a variety of standard sizes with skid mounting for easy transportation. They can also be custom built to suit particular site criteria.
Chemical Supply and Delivery
We can provide chemical supply and delivery services for dosing units so you always have a sufficient quantity of chemicals, and are 100% environmental and WHS regulation compliant.
Monitoring and Telemetry
We can monitor your dosing unit's performance and fine tune the system to maintain optimal dosing levels. We can access this performance information readily by using telemetry.
